Photographed during the 2024 Barkley Marathons at the infamous Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary in Tennessee, this image captures the shadow of a telephone pylon falling perfectly across the prison wall—forming the unmistakable shape of a cross.

For a brief moment, an ordinary piece of infrastructure became something far more symbolic. Set against the walls of a prison that has become inseparable from Barkley folklore, the photograph invites its own interpretation: hope, sacrifice, redemption, or simply a reminder that meaning can appear in the most unexpected places.

Like much of my work, this wasn’t created—it was witnessed.

Each print is produced in my Dorset studio using a Canon PIXMA PRO professional printer on your choice of Canon Premium Matte paper or Canon Pro Platinum Gloss paper. Every print is individually signed, carefully inspected and packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.
